| Photography is a way of communicating inner beauty through the expression of outward appearances. In order to capture a person's emotions it is important that they feel safe enough to reveal themselves to me. This is the most important part of my work; helping people feel comfortable enough to let themselves shine!
Developing the art of tapping into a person's inner world has allowed me to connect with people and my own emotions in a very nurturing and healing way. In order to capture this "inner essence", I must fully participate in the moment. When I look through the lens, I am instantly given a different perspective. Things slow down and I can see in a way that was not possible before. It is in these moments of synchronicity that I am at perfect peace with myself and the universe.
I enjoy creating images of people that show their inner, as well as outer beauty — finding a way to capture them that shows their whole being. I am most gratified when someone reacts to my work by saying, "Wow, do I really look like that? Is that really me?" Yes, it is you — the way that I wish you to see yourself — whole, beautiful, confident & authentic.
As an artist, I see my job as creating images, not just "taking pictures." I do this by helping people feel comfortable enough to open up, by allowing them the freedom to be themselves and by encouraging them to participate in a celebration of the self. I hope to develop a partnership based on mutual sharing, which ultimately means that the results of the session are as dependent on you, as they are on me.
