| Frequently Asked Questions
1) Who will be shooting my wedding?
You may choose between Bryan or Jo, you may choose to have both, or you can leave it up to us to decide. Our styles have grown together over the years, and sometimes we have a tough time figuring out who took which photo! Take a look through the wedding galleries and take note whose work is your favorite. Still can't decide? We work exceptionally well together, and having two photographers means lots more great pictures!
2) What is 'Wedding Photojournalism?"
Real Wedding Photojournalism is photography that tells the story of your wedding day. It's all about capturing real moments as they happen, and not posing or directing you and your guests in order to create fake moments. When you look back at your wedding photographs 20 years later you will say, "Remember when we did that?" and not "Remember when the photographer made us do that?" Although we always do a short list of posed family photographs, we feel that photojournalism captures the real emotion needed to tell the full story of your wedding day.
3) What are your time limits?
We do not believe in setting time limits on our coverage of your wedding. We want to tell the whole story, all of the preparations, nerves, laughter, and tears of your celebration. By the same token, we do not place limits on how many photographs we take, we are prepared to shoot as much as it takes to fully cover your wedding day.
4) Do you use film or digital?
Both. Our color work is all digital and our black and white work is done with real film. Our digital cameras give us beautiful and accurate color reproduction, much more easily than color print film, but black and white film still has a classic beauty that is very hard to copy with digital. We have all of our film scanned after processing in order to offer you all of the conveniences of digital photography such as online proofing and virtual album design. We also maintain our own black & white darkroom and offer traditional hand printed fiber base and resin coated prints.
5) How long have you been photographing weddings?
Bryan began shooting weddings in 1992, working with a traditional wedding photographer in Greensboro, NC. Jo and Bryan met in 1996 while earning photography degrees at RCC. They relocated to Raleigh, NC and began photographing weddings together in 1999.
6) What kind of camera do you use?
We both shoot with multiple cameras at every wedding. Our workhorse cameras are Nikon Professional Digital and 35mm film systems. We each bring 4 camera bodies and a full compliment of lenses to every wedding. In addition we have a Hasselblad medium format system for portraiture, A Leica M7 system (Bryan's latest toy!) and a variety of specialty cameras such as Holgas and a 4"x5" field camera. We have lots of backups.
7) Are you available for travel?
We love to travel and we love to photograph weddings, we are more than happy to combine the two! Just let us know where we are going and we can provide an estimate for the expenses. We just charge for our hotel expenses, mileage or airfare, etc. Ask us about our European and Caribbean specials!!
